Let’s quickly start with some good news – Tommy is out of hospital! It has been a pretty epic run, with lots of ups and downs, but hopefully things are going to continue to improve over the weeks and months ahead. Hopefully, he should be back posting here very soon, so I’ll let him update you on the details himself.
Instead, I want to talk to you today about a project that I’m absolutely honoured to have been involved in. As you are no doubt aware, Tommy’s sense of humour, kind nature and all-round-top-blokeishness have won him lots of friends, and many of them have been coming up with ways of helping support Tommy through his cancer battle.
A few months ago, I was approached by the writer Paul Magrs, to find out if I’d be interested in contributing to an short story anthology, which would be produced and sold to help raise money for Tommy. Of course, I jumped at the chance, and when I found out the short story collection was only going to flippin’ be Doctor Who themed, I jumped twice as high.
All in all, over 25 writers have contributed to the project. Some of them are seasoned Doctor Who writers, while others – like me – are dabbling in the Whoverse for the first time. Just a few of those contributing are: Philip Ardagh, Paul Cornell, Daniel Blythe, Roy Gill, Sharon Tregenza and Steve Cole.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re thinking that with writers of that calibre, this book is sure to cost thousands of pounds. I can see why you’d think that – but you’d be wrong. The price? £9.99. No, your eyes don’t deceive you. Nine pounds and ninety-nine pence. That’s all it’s going to cost you, with the profits going to help our mate Tommy.
Bargain? I think that’s an understatement. This is a one-of-a-kind book, with a one-off print run, and if you pass up the chance to buy a copy you’re going to be kicking yourself for years to come. Literally. And it’ll hurt.
So, avoid yourself all that pain, help Tommy and his family out, and treat yourself to some frickin’ incredible Doctor Who short stories by ordering the book now. You will never have this opportunity again, so don’t miss out.
